Biography
Nicole Martinelli, is an internationally acclaimed artist and photographer whose work has been showcased in prestigious gallery exhibition across the United States and Europe. Originally from the western suburbs of Chicago, Illinois, she now lives in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area, drawing inspiration from the local mountains and rural landscapes for her creations. Her photography and hand-painted E artworks have been featured in numerous juried group exhibitions at renowned galleries, including yet not limited to; Brooklyn Waterfront Coalition Gallery, The Marblehead Arts Association in Massachusetts, Core art Space, in Denver Colorado, and the San Diego Museum of Art Artist Guild.
Nicole has achieved both national and international recognition, receiving awards in various gallery exhibitions, including a notable Gallery Exhibition in Gstaad, Switzerland. Recently, Nicole in a distinguished five-month juried exhibition in the breathtaking Bernese Oberland region of the Swiss Alps, showcasing her work alongside artists from around the world. In July 2025, she is honored to be exhibiting with the prominent gallery, Rossocinabro Gallery located in the heart of Rome, Italy. Which was Immediately following the prestigious international gallery exhibition in which she was honored to be exhibited in, ''Woman Power 2025 ,Weaving Dreams, Living Time'' International Gallery Exhibition which was held in the beautiful Puglia region of Italy, Lecce, Italy. Additionally, she is preparing for a solo exhibition with Artifact Gallery in Manhattan, New York.
Nicole Martinelli, was originally an oil painter who would use her photography strictly for reference material. Nicole was heavily influenced by the impressionism era of Van Gogh and Monet and started having success locally throughout the Chicago land area in 2014. During this time She was accepted for a solo exhibition at Madame Zuzus, owned by well known musician Billy Corgan.
Serious health issues forced the Artist to take a break from her art career and focus on regaining her health. Upon regaining her health. The landscapes she captures captivate her and depict scenes resembling expressive landscape paintings. By utilizing contrast and saturation, she recreates the experience of viewing a painting, depicting scenes that resonate profoundly with her love for impressionism and art.

The Artist captures scenes that resemble that of a painting, being originally a painter The Artist takes great pride in being able to visually view the world as if it were a painting . It is this very essence that fuels her passion and compels her to capture each scene through her lens. The artist and photographer is celebrated for her distinctive artistic vision, showcasing her extraordinary talent to perceive the world around her as if it were a canvas! This unique ability stems from her early commitment to oil painting, where she would use her photographs as a foundation reference material for her paintings. Her fiancé, raised by a father who was a photographer with a darkroom in their home, was the first to discover her talent for photography when he saw her work during a time of illness that prevented her from painting.
He encouraged her to dive further into photography. Through extensive explorations of parks, hiking trails, and concealed beauty off the beaten path waiting to be discovered beyond the usual routes, she found inspiration. In the first exhibitions she applied to, she won third place for "Sunflower Fields" receiving third place and Second place award in2022 and for "Into the Fields (Over the Hills Far Away) Embraced by Blue Skies" in the All Landscapes international exhibition. and an honorable mention award in an international juried exhibition by a prominent international gallery based in Geneva, Switzerland for'' Roots within This soil ''. When the artist, and photographer made her initial return to the art world, her primary focus was solely on photography. Originally a traditional impressionist painter, she was hesitant to diverge from her traditional medium Her fiancé, who grew up with a father who was a photographer that had a darkroom in their home, was the first to recognize her talent when he viewed her photography during a period of illness that left her unable to paint encouraged her to dive further into photography. The artist's photography maintains a more traditional style rather than an alternative one; the color enhancements can often cause viewers to mistaken her work for paintings. This is an essential aspect for viewers to truly appreciate the artist's photographic skills, passion, and talent Her signature use of color enhancements, high contrast, and a vibrant color palette are defining features of her work serving as a distinct form of the artist's artistic expression, giving both the artist and the viewer an experience, sensation, and essence of viewing a painting. Further Enriching the appreciation of the scenery, and ultimately enhancing the viewer's experience! , The Artist decided to submit her photography to a juried art exhibition and was immediately accepted and awarded an honorable mention in an international exhibition based in Geneva, Switzerland. The Artist quickly realized her new medium, photography was also a talent and gift that must be shared with the world! Nicole considers much of her photography to be traditional fine art with a twist of contemporary art elements due to her choice of vivid colors and natural elements. All of Nicole’s photographs are taken on location and found through exhaustive searches of parks, hiking trails, and anywhere off the beaten path. All of her photographs are the original scene, no overlays or collages. Nicole uses photo editing software for color enhancement to intensify the feelings in her subject matter as a form of artistic expression, creating a dream-like aspect and sensation within reality

Soon afterwards, combining her oil painting knowledge with her knowledge gained on the advanced features of photo editing software, she created a new art medium. With her stylus as her paint brush and her touch screen laptop as her canvas, the hand painted digital painting was born!
Nicole’s hand painted digital paintings are far more adventurous and would be considered modern contemporary, abstract impressionism and non-representational abstract. Nicole’s art has deeply evolved throughout the years since her debut in 2014, becoming much more open minded to different mediums and styles of artistic expression. Nicole sees technology as a new exciting creative opportunity. She embraces this fresh avenue with a sense of liberation, eager to explore uncharted territory and break through self-imposed boundaries. With her latest Artistic medium, the artist revels in a sense of boundless freedom and limitless potential.

The artist and photographer Nicole Martinelli's art has evolved throughout the years since her official artistic debut. Her difficult health circumstances prompted her to seek solace, peace, and comfort in nature, allowing her to fully explore her creative artistic expression through photography. She became more open-minded to different mediums and styles of artistic expression.
The artist's photography and E-paintings have earned her recognition nationally and internationally, along with numerous awards, including second and third place at the Contemporary Art Gallery for two consecutive years, 2021 and 2022, during their international juried exhibition, "All Landscapes," where her photographs "Sunflower Fields" and "Over the Hills Far Away, Embraced by Blue Skies" were recognized. In December 2022, Nicole also received an honorable mention for her photographic artwork, "Roots Within This Soil," at the Helvetart International Juried Exhibition located in Geneva. Over the past few years, Nicole Martinelli has broadened her artistic portfolio by venturing further into new mediums, exploring previously uncharted creative territories, including the development of hand-painted E-paintings using a stylus.
In May 2023, she unveiled her innovative new art form with the painting "Navajo Nights Indigo Dreams," which gained her immediate acceptance into the prestigious Marblehead Arts Gallery as part of the Variations 2023 exhibition, out of 800 submissions. Soon after, in June 2023, she earned a third place award for her E-painting. She recently achieved another third place international award in July 2023 at a Juried International Abstract Exhibition located in Geneva, Switzerland, for her hand-created E-painting titled "Aztec Lucid Dreams." "Aztec Lucid Dreams" achieved third place in an International Juried Abstract Exhibition based in Geneva, Switzerland.
Later, in November 2023, the same piece was accepted by the Brooklyn Waterfront Artist Coalition Gallery (BWAC) in Brooklyn, New York, by juror and poet Armando Garcia. More recently, in Spring 2024, her artworks "Requiem of the Flowers" and "Nostalgic Terrain Floral Daydream" were chosen for the prestigious San Diego Museum Artist Guild (SDMAAG) Spring Exhibition in San Diego, California. This selection was made by the distinguished juror who holds the position of Associate Curator at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art for inclusion in this prestigious exhibition.
As of June 8, 2024. The artist's work was accepted and exhibited in a prestigious five-month international Juried exhibition located in the Bernese Oberland region of the Swiss Alps in Gstaad, Switzerland. The International Gallery Exhibition showcases the artist's work alongside forty artists from various countries, including but not limited to Switzerland. France, Italy, Malta, the United Kingdom, Poland and Greece. Nicole Martinelli's photography and hand-painted paintings have been featured in numerous juried group exhibitions at prestigious galleries across the US and Europe, including the Marblehead Arts Association Gallery, MA, Mosaic Arts Gallery in Fairfax, VA, BWAC Gallery in Brooklyn, NY, San Diego Museum of Art Artist Guild in CA, and CORE Art Space in CO. The Artist in March 2025 was accepted and exhibited in the meaningful prestigious '' Woman Art 2025, Weaving Dreams Living Time" with two of her most well known artworks, Requiem of the flowers, and Nostalgic terrain floral day dream. The Exhibition was held and located in beautiful Puglia region of Italy in Lecce, Italy! The Artist is currently in July 2025, being exhibited at the prestigious gallery, Rossinbarro Gallery located in the heart of Rome! The Artist is also in preparation for her highly anticipated solo exhibition at Artifact Gallery in Manhattan, New York!

'' As both an artist and a photographer, I must be compelled to by the beauty or the subject matter to determine if the image and vision will be created or should be captured and shared with the world. It is when the image or subject stirs an emotion within me that I feel compelled to create the inspiration or capture the image.- whether it be a feeling, a distant memory, a life experience or an inspiration that resonates with me and is able to transport my mind and creativity into a dreamlike state. The emotions I experience from deep within myself, and the sentiments felt while either creating or capturing the subject or scenery, play an equally significant role as the creation or image itself.
Nature has always captivated me with its natural beauty and the solace it offers. As an artist and photographer, it is my duty to both capture and create beauty. ''As an E-painter I am essentially incorporating my previous painting skills as an oil painter with my technical knowledge acquired from Digital Photography. I create my E-Paintings organically from my mind while using my stylus as my brush and, my touch screen laptop as if it were my Canvas.
As an artist I believe in advancing with the current times and using this technology to my advantage. I do not believe however in being used by the technology. Having a hands on approach every step of the creative process is essential to myself as an artist. I see technology and this new artistic medium as a new exciting creative opportunity . The Artist is honored and grateful for all she has been blessed with these last few years
that have occurred thanks to her artistic gifts she has been blessed with . She lived through a very bleak time period in her life
through serious severe health illness and other very difficult circumstances that she survived.
She feels that in a way that these circumstances she found the strength and courage to live through and Survive, were a blessing in disguise, due to her artistic focus shift in her mediums from painting to photography which has gained her recent artistic attention not only locally but nationally and internationally The Artists sudden shift in mediums occurred due to the difficult circumstances she was faced with The Artist is thankful to be Alive and healthy once more and be able to share her love for nature
''You have the power to transform your struggles, pain ,and the storms in your life into something beautiful and the ability channel your negative emotions from these difficult life experiences into a more positive outlet. Dwelling on my the past only brought more sorrow. My healing journey began through my deep connection to nature, and art I decided to finally have the courage to believe in myself and to pursue my dreams rather then allowing my difficult life experiences to break me . I learned to take the emotions from my painful difficult life experiences and channeled it into something positive. My two loves that have always brought me solace and inner peace Nature and my art.
